EXPLORE

In the mood for a short hike? A long haul? A wildlife adventure or a waterfall + swimming hole destination? This park has it all. Here are some of our favorites:

CLINGMANS DOME: The highest point in the park!

CHARLIE'S BUNION: Hike to a picturesque stone outcrop

MOUNT LECONTE: Via Alum Cave Trail

GREGORY BALD: Consider this one during the summer and your view will be blooming azaleas!

ABRAMS FALLS: The most voluminous waterfall in the park!

CHIMNEY TOPS: One of the few mountains in the Smokies that has a bare rock summit.

A scenic view of a small town surrounded by lush green trees and rolling hills, with a tall observation tower rising above the buildings and mountains in the background.

Wondering where to grab a bite?

In Tennessee, we love Southern cooking! That said, the quaint towns surrounding this park are home to all sorts of cuisine! Besides the famous Pancake Pantry, these are some of our recommendations:

  • Three powdered donuts are stacked on a white plate, dusted with powdered sugar. More donuts and a dark cup are in the background, with a blue and white checkered cloth beside the plate on a dark surface.

    Quick Snacks

FRIENDLY FALLS: The only eatery in the Smokies with its own waterfall!

THE DONUT FRIAR: The donuts are awesome, but the locals love the world-famous cinnamon bread. Get there early!

CADES COVE DELI:  A snack bar that serves food items like sandwiches, soups, and pizza, fountain drinks and other snack bar items. One of the few locations with food actually inside the park.

  • A person pours hot water from a copper kettle into a pour-over coffee filter, brewing coffee. Several glass coffee drippers are arranged on a metal rack. The background is slightly blurred.

    Casual Dining

POTTERY HOUSE CAFE & GRILLE: Delicious food served on dishes created by our potters right next door. In the historic Old Mill District.

MAMA'S FARMHOUSE: This is where you'll want to come hungry for that delicious southern cooking we mentioned! Family style.

WILD PLUM TEA ROOM: Located in the Great Smoky Arts & Crafts Community, the Wild Plum Tea Room is modeled after the tea houses in the mountains of Austria.

  • A close-up of a barbecue grill with steaks, sausages, and vegetable skewers. A red brush is being used to apply sauce to a steak, and smoke is rising from the grill.

    A Bit Nicer

MOUNTAIN VIEW RESTAURANT: Breathtaking views and a 4-course meal - reservations required!

THE PEDDLER STEAKHOUSE: It combines the intimacy of a cabin location with the sophistication of a fine steakhouse.
